Opera FIAS Interface for Biodux PMS: Systems built for Oracle Opera can talk to Biodux instead.

FIAS is the interface standard Oracle Opera uses to talk to other hotel systems, and many TV, entertainment and guest-service vendors only support FIAS. Biodux PMS speaks it as well, so those systems receive check-ins and check-outs from Biodux and post their charges back to the guest’s bill.

Why it matters

International hotel systems are usually written to connect to Opera first. Without FIAS, a hotel using another PMS is often told the integration “isn’t supported”.

Because Biodux speaks FIAS, a vendor can connect to Biodux the same way they connect to Opera. It saves them custom work and saves you from choosing your PMS around one supplier.

What happens, step by step

    Guest checks in

    Biodux sends the guest’s name and room to the connected system.

  2. 02

    Guest buys something

    The connected system posts the charge to the guest’s folio. Biodux checks the guest can be charged and respects credit limits.

  3. 03

    Guest checks their bill

    The connected system can ask Biodux for the guest’s folio and show it, for example on the TV.

  4. 04

    Guest checks out

    Biodux tells the connected system the room is free.

What the integration does

  • Guest in, out and changes

    Check-ins, check-outs, room moves and guest changes go out as they happen, with a full resync on request.

  • Charges posted to the folio

    Postings from the connected system land on the guest’s bill. No-post guests and credit limits are respected, and the same charge is never posted twice.

  • Bill viewing

    Connected systems can request the guest’s folio to show it to them.

  • Configured, not rewritten

    Protocol details live in configuration, so a vendor’s variation is a settings change, not new software.

Is Biodux the same as Oracle Opera?

No. Biodux PMS is our own hotel system. It speaks Opera’s FIAS interface, so systems designed for Opera can connect to Biodux.

Which systems can connect through FIAS?

Hotel TV and entertainment systems are the most common. Tell us which vendor you use and we’ll confirm before you commit.

Does the connected system see our whole database?

No. It only receives the guest and room details FIAS defines, and can only post charges and read the folio of a checked-in guest.
